Barium Reference Signal Meter

Barium comes also in a single-channel meter version. The single-channel model uses 20 LEDs, while Barium Duo adds 2 x 20 LEDs for left and right monitoring. Both versions deliver a 42 dB range, so you can read levels with accuracy across a wide dynamic window.

In addition, Barium includes both dBu and dBFS scales. That makes it easy to match the meter to your studio workflow. Peak hold also helps you track signal peaks more effectively, especially during critical calibration and monitoring tasks.

By default, Barium is calibrated to -18 dBFS = 0 dBu. However, you can change the reference point to -20, -22, or -24 dBFS = 0 dBu with the DIP switch on the main PCB. As a result, you can align the meter with different studio standards without changing your signal chain.

Barium also fits neatly into your audio path. It uses a hard-wired input-to-output design, so the signal passes through without interruption. Therefore, you can place it in line without affecting the sound. This clean design supports transparent monitoring and keeps your workflow simple.

Barium Duo follows the same principle, but it reads two channels at once. Because 500-series modules are single-channel, Barium Duo uses both the input and output of the module to display left and right signals. To support this setup, it includes an XLR female-to-female adapter for your 500 rack. The left channel comes from the input, while the right channel comes from the output through the adapter. Since Barium Duo does not offer signal-through, you need to split the signal before feeding it to the meter.
