Featuring Heiserman Capsules
For the United Technologies UT FET47, United partnered with acclaimed capsule designer and manufacturer Eric Heiserman to develop a commercially produced version of his newly perfected German-style dual-backplate K47 capsule. Working closely with Eric and United’s capsule manufacturing team, they set out to faithfully recreate his design.
The process involved scrutinizing every detail — from the sourced Mylar to the screw thread types. After months of testing and refinement, they arrived at the HZ Series capsule: a result both United and Heiserman could stand behind.
While many of the HZ Series design details remain proprietary, one standout feature they can share is the use of dual matched backplates. This matching process delivers greater accuracy and consistency from side to side, and from capsule to capsule.
Each HZ Series capsule is still handcrafted in small quantities, carefully listened to, and approved only when it meets the exacting standards of both United and Eric.
Custom Cinemag Transformers
United auditioned numerous recreations of the original German transformer before selecting an exceptional model from Cinemag Transformers in California. Their version of the classic component is a true piece of engineering artistry: a large, robust transformer built with a striped core of interleaved high-nickel and steel laminations, wound to the specifications of the original.
Its humbucking design ensures clean, quiet operation.
United could have chosen a smaller or less expensive transformer, but refused to compromise. We think you’ll be glad they did.
